Leading Difficult Conversations
facilitated by Janine Higgins

Focusing on concepts of interpersonal relationships, emotional intelligence and problem solving, this Masterclass is designed for people who tend to avoid difficult conversations or are not getting the results they are looking for. During this session you will learn how to lead difficult conversations using proven models that will increase your comfort level and effectiveness.

Tuesday October 30th

Dealing with Conflict
facilitated by Janine Higgins

Using findings from neuroscience, this Masterclass focuses on reducing stress, frustration and wasted time when conflict is unavoidable. During this session you will learn a model that will assist you to build better relationships, handle resistance, and manage people more effectively.

Tuesday November 13th

Communication Strategies for Strong Leaders
facilitated by Chris Thompson

Designed for professionals looking to strengthen their leadership skills, this Masterclass focuses on one of the most important skills for a leader to master: communication. During this session you will discover how to influence using a framework for persuasive communication, identify your communication style and broaden your understanding about communication styles that differ from your own.

Janine A. Higgins

Janine A. Higgins is a chartered mediator, an accredited family mediator and a former corporate commercial lawyer. She teaches courses for educational institutions, governments, corporations and organizations throughout Ontario and in several other provinces. In 1994, Janine began conducting training for Continuing Studies at the University of Western Ontario, where she is the architect and principal instructor of its Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Program.

Chris Thomspon

A curious person by nature and lifelong learner, Chris Thompson’s academic background includes studies in popular culture, corporate communications, management, adult education, business analysis, and he holds a Master of Education with a focus on educational policy and leadership. Currently the E-Learning Specialist: Leadership with Human Resources at Western University, Chris has extensive experience in marketing and communications, leadership coaching, program management, curriculum design, and training and development.

At Western Continuing Studies, Chris facilitates courses in the Professional Certificate in Leadership, the Professional Certificate in Adult Education, the Professional Certificate in Management, and the post-degree Diploma in Public Relations. Chris is also a part-time faculty member in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business at Fanshawe College, teaching courses in human resources, marketing, and business, and he serves as a Vice-President with the Thames Valley Education Foundation (TVEF).
