In January of 2016, Elizabeth (Beth) Goldenberg, BA’88 (Science), LLB’91, opened The New Family Law Center in London, Ont. Her family law firm provides legal representation at a fixed monthly price, a complementary wellness program, and a referral service to other areas of law.
On September 9, 2015, Sabine Nolke, BA’78, MA'80, LLB'85, presented her letters of credence as Canada's Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to His Majesty, King Willem Alexander. She serves concurrently as Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons; her portfolio includes representing Canada at the international legal institutions resident in The Hague.
Omar Ha-Redeye, JD’10, was awarded the OBA Foundation Award on Nov. 9, 2015, for exceptional contributions to the legal system and public legal education. The senior recipient of the award was Hon. Justice Stephen Goudge.
Stephen De Boer, BA’86, LLB’89, was named Canada's Ambassador to the Republic of Poland.
Charles Graham, LLB’78, was recently appointed a judge of the Family Court Branch in Barrie.
William McDonald, LLB’82, recently established a boutique law firm, Allen McDonald Swartz LLP (AMS LLP), that focuses on corporate law, capital markets transactions and securities law. Working with clients all across North America, the firm is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, and is recognized equally for its work with large multi-national companies and entrepreneurial start-ups.
Edward Wong, LLB’89, has worked as a trial lawyer for 24 years and is the Liberal candidate for Member of Parliament for Vancouver East. His son, Andrew, is studying Engineering at Western.
Elizabeth Weir, LLB’76, has been accredited by the United Nations Development Program as a member of its Roster of Experts in Democratic Governance to conduct international parliamentary training and strengthening programs.
Clayton Stewart, LLB’90, joined Mercier & Associates, an active boutique family law firm, in January, 2015. He says: “Having the best time practicing law here, with my practice expanding, great staff, office close to court. I am actually having fun practicing law. That, in and of itself is worth celebrating!”
Thomas Telfer, BA’85, JD’88, is a Professor of Law at Western University. He recently published: Ruin and Redemption: The Struggle for a Canadian Bankruptcy Law, 1867-1919 (Toronto: University of Toronto Press, 2014).
John Braden, LLB’65, recently finished writing a non-fiction book, Because the Future Matters: Let's Stop Letting Modern Economics and Our Energy Addiction Ruin Almost Everything!.
