Chairman and CEO, Harry Rosen Inc.

Larry Rosen didn't have to look far for a career that suits him.

The eldest son of iconic Canadian high-end menswear retailer Harry Rosen has worked jobs from the sales floor to corporate development since joining the business 20 years ago.

After earning law and business degrees at Western University, Rosen practised corporate law in Toronto until joining the 16-store Harry Rosen chain as a buyer in 1985.

He later became general merchandise manager and a company director before being named president and chief operating officer in 1997 and being appointed chief executive officer in 2000.

Rosen's father Harry and uncle Lou established the business more than 50 years ago in a 500-square-foot Cabbagetown storefront. Harry, now in his 80s, still goes with a tape measure in hand to the Toronto Bloor Street store.

A member of the Ivey Advisory Board and Ivey Entrepreneurship Advisory Council, Rosen has embarked on expansion plans which include a Toronto Eaton Centre store expanded to 16,000 square feet from 9,000. In 2013, he plans to double the size of the Yorkdale Mall store to 30,000 square feet.

Rosen spearheads Harry's Spring Run Off, a fundraiser for prostate cancer research held in Toronto's High Park and the store's United Way campaign.
