Mike Bickerton, MIT'01, has worked in the Canadian television industry since graduation. He is one of the most sought after television director/producers in Canada, specializing in domestic adaptations of top international unscripted formats.
After his undergraduate degree at Western, while earning a master's degree in communication and cultural studies from York and Ryerson Universities in 2003, Mike completed an internship with web-based reality project U8TV.com that started him on the path to learning the TV business - starting at the control room floor. He has earned a reputation as a skilled director, writer and producer of reality, documentary and competition variety series in Canada and abroad in Asia and the UK. Beyond the airwaves, Mike works as a consultant in event production, television development, and marketing communications strategy.
Alternating between directing and producing, Mike has worked on every major international format that has been adapted for Canadian broadcasters in the last 10 years, including: Canadian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Top Chef Canada, Canada's Next Top Model and most recently The Real Housewives of Vancouver. Original series include: Canada Sings, Village on a Diet and Battle of the Blades.
