Daughter of legend Bob Marley, Stephanie Marley BA’99, has close ties with Western graduating with a BA in Psychology as an Honour Roll Student in 1999. Of the 10 children of Bob and Rita Marley, she is the only one to attain a post-secondary degree. Before Western, Marley also completed her A Levels in Social Studies and Psychology in London, England.
During her three years in Canada, she volunteered at a local school for children with emotional and behavioural issues, Madame Vanier in London, Ontario, where she developed her knowledge in early childhood education.
Following her graduation from Western she got involved in the family business of music and entertainment. She was the Managing Director of the Bob Marley Foundation, Bob Marley Museum, Tuff Gong International, Tuff Gong Recording, URGE, the Rita Marley Foundation, and helped form Tuff Gong Productions. She was also the eyes and ears of the construction and development of Marley Resort & Spa in Nassau, Bahamas, overseeing the project.
With much of her time dedicated to the music and entertainment industry, Marley has a goal of returning to London someday so her children can attend Western University and she can immerse herself in the farming industry. She and her family have purchased land north of London with the aspiration to build a home. She hopes to see the rise of the Marley Farm, an organic market, in the next ten years.
Marley was featured in the Winter 2011 issue of the Alumni Gazette:
