As chief operating officer, Stewart oversees all major operational elements of Mobilicity, from billing and operational support systems to information technology, handset acquisition and logistics, as well as the call centre and customer care. He also is responsible for the regulatory aspects of the company and, having led the initial formation of the company, has played a significant role in its equity and debt fundraising efforts.
Prior to working at Mobilicity, Stewart was executive vice-president of XM Satellite Radio Canada. As the initial employee and co-founder of the venture, he led the launch of the business and regulatory licensing process, developed customer operations including hardware/logistics sourcing and contractual relationships. He also created and led the company’s direct and indirect sales teams, oversaw outsourced operational relationships and implemented its subscriber acquisition and retention toolkit.
Stewart’s business background also includes working within the financial services industry. While at Scotia Capital Inc., he was an Interest Rate Derivatives Trader, trading several structured derivative products across multiple currencies, as part of the organization’s Global Trading group. He served as Director of Operations for the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid, a fast-paced, entrepreneurial start-up, involving multiple stakeholders and requiring both national and international government coordination.
Stewart is currently a member of the Board of Directors of XM Canada (TSX:XSR). His charitable work includes serving on the board of ProAction Cops and Kids, an organization that aims to help improve relationships between police officers and at-risk youth. He graduated from Western University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts (Scholar’s Electives).
Five Western alumni are named Top 40 Under 40, one of Canada's most prestigious honours for young leaders. Western is proud to have more recipients than any other Canadian university with more than 70 alumni on the Top 40 Under 40 list.
