After a five-month search that began at the end of March, Toronto’s University Health Network (UHN) has announced that Texas-based surgeon Peter Pisters, MD'85, will be the group’s next president and CEO.

A graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Harvard University School of Public Health, Dr. Pisters is an academic surgical oncologist with a specialty focus on sarcoma and gastrointestinal cancers. A native of St. Catharines, Ont., he currently is the vice-president, regional care system, at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston.

The UHN is a group of four teaching hospitals that includes Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
