A new 100,000-square-foot Engineering building is set to take shape this fall. The building will focus on collaborative education and enabling student-centred learning. Ervin Sejdic, BESc’02 (Electrical), PhD’08, was awarded the President Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers by President Barack Obama – the highest honour bestowed by the US Government on engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

John Cross, MESc’65, appointed Member of the Order of Canada, July 1, 2015.

George Crouch, BESc’13 (Civil), received The G. Gordon M. Sterling Engineering Intern Award, which was introduced in 2010 to promote, encourage and celebrate professional leadership achievements of engineering graduates registered in PEO's Engineering Internship Training (EIT) program.

Wayne Kozun, BESc’88 (Electrical), MBA’93, has been appointed Senior VP of Public Equities at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in Toronto.

M. Blaik Kirby, BESc’90 (Civil), MBA’95, has been appointed President of Bell Mobility.

Hanny Hassan, BESc’64 (Civil), was appointed Chair of the Board of Governors at Western University effective January 1, 2016.

Hesham El Naggar, PhD’94, received the Engineering Medal: Research and Development presented by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Alex Bruce, BESc’14 (Civil), 2011 Pan Am Badminton medalist won silver and bronze at 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.
