Congratulating Dr. Gregor Reid

Gregor Reid receives Murray Award for Career Achievement

Western Heads East is very proud to help congratulate Dr. Gregor Reid for being awarded the 2018 Canadian Society of Microbiologists Murray Award for Career Achievement! 

Dr. Reid is a professor of Microbiology and Immunology and Surgery at Western University, and the Endowed Chair in Human Microbiome and Probiotics at the Lawson Health Research Institute. His research primarily focuses on beneficial microbes and he is one of the world’s foremost experts on probiotics.

Dr. Reid was instrumental in the establishment of Western Heads East and has contributed tremendously to the field of human microbiome and probiotics research, including crafting the global definition of probiotics. Enthusiastic congratulations to Dr. Reid!

Africa-Western Collaboration Day

Dr. Lola Dare, President and Chief Executive of CHESTRAD International, an African-led global social enterprise, will be delivering a keynote presentation at Africa-Western Collaboration Day during International Week 2018 at Western. Titled Disruptive Solutions for Trafficking In Persons and Forced Migration in Africa, Dr. Dare's presentation will provide highlights from a 17 African country study aimed at illuminating the perspectives of people who have experienced human trafficking and forced migration. In September, Dr. Dare will present her findings at a UN General Assembly, and Western University will be the second place where she presents on this study. Stay tuned for more details and watch for Africa-Western Collaboration Day event during International Week November 12-16, 2018.

International week is a campus-wide celebration of diversity and intercultural sharing with a huge variety of events all week from November 12-16.
