Dan Wells book store Alumnus’ small press makes big Giller impact
All Dan Wells wanted was a life lived in books. And it was happenstance, he said, that made such a life possible. Nearly 20 years ago, while Wells was finishing his History MA at Western, he stumbled upon a large collection – thousands upon thousands of books – at a Gardner Galleries auction. Western alumni William Morneau, BA’86 (Political Science), and Jane Philpott, MD’84, were named today among 31 members of the new Liberal cabinet of recently elected Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Holy Stover Half of Western's Vanier winners are alumni
Four Western PhD candidates have been named among 166 nationwide recipients, across all three Tri-Council Agencies, of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Each winner receives $50,000 annually for up to three years. Vanier scholars are selected based on leadership skills and high standard of scholarly achievement in the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering and/or health sciences.
